Membership Types

RM = Regular Member: Any reputable doctor of medicine or osteopathy, licensed to practice medicine or surgery in the State of Connecticut who resides or practices in Fairfield County and who has fulfilled the requirements of indoctrination as may be established from time to time by the Board of Trustees, shall be eligible for consideration for membership the Association and the Connecticut State Medical Society.

AM = Associate Member: Any doctor of medicine or osteopathy, licensed to practice medicine or surgery in the State of Connecticut who resides or practices in Fairfield County but belongs to another county medical association and who has fulfilled the requirements of indoctrination as may be established from time to time by the Board of Trustees shall be eligible for consideration for membership in the Association. Associate members shall be accorded all rights and privileges of membership, with the exception that such members may not vote or hold office.

AFM = Affiliate Member: Any doctor of medicine or osteopathy who resides or works in Fairfield County but does not hold a license to practice medicine or surgery in Connecticut, and who has fulfilled the requirements of indoctrination as may be established from time to time by the Board of Trustees shall be eligible for consideration for membership in the Association. Affiliate members shall be accorded all rights and privileges of membership, with the exception that such members may not vote or hold office.

PGM = Post-Graduate Member: Any doctor of medicine or osteopathy, who has a permit for graduate medical education from the State of Connecticut and is an intern, resident or fellow in Fairfield County, and who has fulfilled the requirements for indoctrination as may be established from time to time by the Board of Trustees shall be eligible for consideration for membership in the Association. Post-Graduate Members shall be accorded all the rights and privileges of membership, with the exception that such members may not vote or hold office.

SM = Student Member: A person who is enrolled in an accredited medical or osteopathy school in the United States and who has fulfilled the requirements for indoctrination as may be established from time to time by the Board of Trustees may apply to become a student member. A student member shall be accorded all the rights and privileges of membership, with the exception that such members may not vote or hold office.

LM = Physician 65 years and older, who are fully retired and not gainfully employed, whether or not they are engaged in the provision of pro bono care (Effective January 1 following 65th birthday).

LM = Physicians 75 years and older even if they are in active practice (Effective January 1 following 75th birthday).

L2 = Physicians working 20 hours or less per week and over the age of 65, will be required to pay 50% of the regular Association dues.

L1 = Physicians not yet over 65 who are fully retired will be required to pay 20% of the regular Association dues.
